Men's Homeless Shelter
This project is a collaboration between the City and County to provide a purpose-built, permanent, men’s emergency overnight homeless shelter in a former retail space. The existing building is ~32,000 SF on a ~2.75 acre site, hasn’t been occupied for several years and requires extensive renovations and upgrades. The shelter will be sized to provide space for up to 250 guests. The preliminary capital budget for this project is $6M - $3M from Dane County and $3M from the City of Madison. Once completed, a qualified and experienced homeless shelter operator will be selected to run day to day operations.
