Consider the Conversation: A Documentary on a Taboo Subject (film plus discussion) Documentary/ USA / 2011/ 60 minutes Consider the Conversation: A Documentary on a Taboo Subject is an intimate story about the American struggle with communication and preparation at life's end. It contains the perspectives of patients, family members, doctors, nurses, social workers, clergy and national experts from around the country. The goal of this film is to inspire dialogue between patient and doctor, husband and wife, minister and parishioner, parent and child. www.considertheconversation.org/ Following the screening, a volunteer from the community will lead a 30-minute discussion on advance care planning. At the end of the discussion, attendees will have an opportunity to sign up for a future meeting with a facilitator who can lead them through the advance care planning process. This includes, but is not limited to, the completion of the advance directive form. Advance care planning is a process of understanding, reflecting on and discussing future medical decisions, including end-of-life preferences. The presentation is a joint effort between Honoring Choices Wisconsin, an initiative of the Wisconsin Medical Society and Meriter Hospital’s Association of Spiritual Caregivers. www.honoringchoiceswi.org
