Mayor Rhodes-Conway announced today that Joe Grande, Water Quality Manager for the Madison Water Utility, will serve as Interim General Manager (GM) of the Water Utility while a new GM is being recruited. The current General Manager, Tom Heikkinen, submitted his resignation in September.

“Joe’s long-time role as a respected and trusted senior manager at the Water Utility will help create continuity among the Water Utility leadership team and a smooth transition for the Utility,” said Mayor Rhodes-Conway. “I appreciate his willingness to step up and support the City and Utility in this role.”

Grande will begin serving as Interim GM on November 16, and does not intend to apply for the permanent position. The recruitment for the GM position is anticipated within the next two weeks.
