The City of Madison Engineering and Streets divisions plan to coordinate sandbag collection after Labor Day weekend.

Many homeowners still have sandbags from last summer, and some have decided to leave them in place for now. Because it’s early in the active weather season, the City won’t collect sandbags until late summer/early fall in case residents may need them. Lake and river levels have been increasing over the spring, however, as of May 28, there is no immediate threat.

If residents do not want to keep their sandbags through the summer, they may drop off sandbags at the east side Streets Division drop-off site located at 4602 Sycamore Ave.  Sandbag drop-off will be available during normal Streets Division drop-off site hours.  Sandbags should only be placed in the area designated for sandbag disposal.  The sandbag drop-off site is near the brush pile within the Streets Division drop-off site.

If residents are unsure where sandbags should be placed while at the Sycamore Ave. location, please ask the Streets Division site attendant for assistance.  Do not place sandbags into the trash, recycling, yard waste, or other collection trucks, carts, or areas while at the Sycamore site.
