The Ride the Drive tradition continues, in your neighborhood. With a pause in 2020, this year’s Ride the Drive has a creative spin and will look a little different than the typical downtown event. As a COVID safety precaution, we’ve made several significant adjustments. To help disperse participation and to better control crowds, this year’s Ride the Drive offers four simultaneous neighborhood events with limited park activities.

We invite you to join your neighbors at one of four Ride the Drive routes anytime between 9am and 1pm on Sunday, June 6. Each of the 2-mile or less routes loops around a park.

Kennedy Park - East
Marlborough Park - South
Warner Park - North
Wingra Park - West

The parks and routes were selected through thoughtful and careful planning working with the City’s Traffic Engineering Division. As in previous years, the focal point remains a park with surrounding street closures allowing participants to stroll, roll, pedal or glide along the route without motor vehicles.

“With four events happening at the same time, we will need to fill nearly 600 volunteer shifts,” said Tracey Hartley, Ride the Drive’s event coordinator. “It’s a big undertaking but we are committed to offer a unique event for Madison neighbors to enjoy.” If you live on or near the route or in the neighborhood, we hope you’ll become a volunteer. Each volunteer receives the coveted RTD t-shirt and most positions are just 2 hours, which allows for you to still participate in Ride the Drive. Positions include bike ambassadors, setup and cleanup crews, info booth & t-shirt sales and the greatest need, intersection guides. More than 400 intersection guide time slots are available in 90-minute and 2 hour shifts. Individuals, families, local companies and organizations are encouraged to volunteer and online registration is open.
