Due to the extreme cold and City offices remaining closed on January 31, City officials want property tax payers to know they have the following options:

Pay online: at www.cityofmadison.com/treasurer.

Pay by mail:
Return the bottom portion of your property tax bill with your payment.
Please make checks payable and send to:

If you are paying by escrow: When paying with an escrow check, endorse the back of the check. If your escrow check exceeds the tax bill amount, the overpayment will be sent to you within six weeks.

Pay in person:
Bring your bill and pay with check, cash or money order.
Office Hours: Friday, February 1- 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.
Next week Monday – Friday, 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

Grace period for January 31 deadline for first installment:
Payments may be made by mail or in person at our office until 4:30 pm on Thursday, February 7th. Payments must be IN OUR HANDS by 4:30 pm February 7th to be considered timely. Mail received after that time will be delinquent REGARDLESS of the postmark. If you failed to pay at least the first installment, your taxes will be delinquent and due in their entirety. Delinquent taxes are charged 1% interest and .5% penalty each month. These charges are assessed on the first day of each month on the current balance.
