Rules for Obtaining Free Mulch at 121 E. Olin Ave.
The pile is for Madison residents only. Residents will be restricted to up to 30 gallons of mulch.

The free mulch is not for contractors and other large scale customers of the mulch facility.

Residents will need to bring their own container and shovels to load the material.

No bobcats or other machines may be used to load the mulch.

How to Get Mulch
When entering the facility, the mulch available for residents will be located to the left along the fence.

You must follow the cones and signs to form the line so not to obstruct the heavy equipment utilizing other functions of the facility.

Do not approach the booth near the scale.

Do not enter the processing area beyond the booth, either.

Mulch Availability
The supply of mulch remains limited and is not guaranteed to be available for residents when they arrive. The pile of mulch for residents will be restocked when possible.

Please note that other mulch at the site is reserved for other city processes, such as keeping trees alive while they await planting in the fall, and also for bulk purchasers, like area farmers.

Maintain Safety
When obtaining mulch, residents should follow social distancing guidelines and they are encouraged to wear face coverings. This is for their own safety as well as for Streets Division employees.

Residents are also reminded to stay alert at this facility. Heavy equipment regularly enters and exits as other city processes, such as transferring of garbage to be hauled to the landfill, take place here.

Please follow the signs and cones to safely enter, obtain the mulch, and exit the facility.

Larger Volume of Mulch and Commercial Sales
Sales of semi-truck loads of mulch remain restricted to customers who have their credit cards on file with the mulch facility.

There will be no hand-to-hand transactions of cash, check, or credit card.
