Public Invited To Tour Fire Station 1, Administrative Offices

The Madison Fire Department is excited to announce the Grand Re-Opening its administrative headquarters and Fire Station 1. Following renovations that took the facility out of service for nearly three years, administrators, prevention officers, inspectors, firefighters, and chiefs returned to West Dayton Street in December 2015.

The Grand Re-Opening celebrates the unique public-private partnership that made this project possible. The Madison Fire Department welcomes representatives from City of Madison, Hovde Properties, J.H. Findorff & Son Inc., and the public for a special hose uncoupling—a fire service twist on the ceremonial ribbon cutting.

After the uncoupling, visitors are invited to enjoy cake, refreshments, and guided tours of Fire Station 1 and the Department’s administrative offices.

Located at 316 W. Dayton Street, Fire Station 1 is the busiest fire house in the city, serving the downtown area and home to the MFD Lake Rescue Team. The administrative offices at 314 W. Dayton Street house the MFD Command Staff, Fire Prevention Division, EMS Training unit, administrative clerks, finance office, public information office, and more.

While the fire station and administrative offices were under construction, personnel were relocated to Fire Station 3 (Williamson Street), Fire Station 4 (Monroe Street), a Madison Gas & Electric facility on E. Main Street, and administrative offices at 30 W. Mifflin Street.
