Madison Arts Commission Welcomes Artist José Guadalupe Rios Córdoba from Tepatitlán de Morelos, Mexico

The Madison Arts Commission is pleased to announce that the Madison Tepa Sister City Committee is hosting Artist José Guadalupe Rios Córdoba from Tepatitlán de Morelos, Mexico as part of an artist exchange program between our two cities. From now until mid August Mr. Córdoba will paint a traditional historical mural for placement in the entry way to the Madison Municipal Building.

“We look forward to the international cooperation among artists and we welcome and are excited to have José Guadalupe Rios Córdoba painting a mural for Madison,” states Madison Arts Commission Chair Barbara Schrank. “Through his work we are adding vibrancy, color, and diversity to the arts in Madison.”

The artist will work on site in the Madison Municipal Building (MMB) at 215 Martin Luther King, Jr. Blvd from July 24 through August 15. Visitors are invited to stop by the Doty Street entrance to the MMB between 10am and 4pm to see the mural making in progress. A formal dedication of the mural will take place on Monday, August 18 at noon in room 260 of the MMB

The Madison Tepa Sister City Committee invites Madison residents to contribute their ideas about important moments in Madison history, historical figures, and important places for possible inclusion in the mural. Please send brief comments 50 words or less & jpgs, before Friday, August 8 to connie.hilla@camaralatinadecomercio.org
