Madison Senior Center offers Training Credit Hours

The Madison Senior Center will host Mental Health First Aid training on Tuesday, August 19 and 26, 8:30-12:30 pm. Provided by Journey Mental Health, these two 4-hour training sessions will cover a 5-step action plan to help people with the signs and symptoms of a mental health illness or crisis and connect them with the appropriate professional, peer, social, or self-help care.

Most people think of First Aid as CPR or the Heimlich maneuver, but mental health assistance is just as relevant and quality training is important. You are more likely to encounter someone—whether it is a friend, family member, coworker or neighbor—in an emotional or mental crisis than someone having a heart attack. Learn the appropriate measures you can take to help.

Anyone can take the 8-hour Mental Health First Aid course — first responders, students, teachers, leaders of faith communities, human resources professionals, and caring citizens.

$80 fee made payable to the Madison Senior Center.  Space is limited. Certificate for 8 course hours are available upon completion. Call the Madison Senior Center at 266-6581 or email pguttenberg@cityofmadison.com to reserve your space.
