In an arresting array of photography, collage, and assemblage, Karen Reppen presents "Visual Voracity," an art exhibit running November 1 through December 30 at the Alicia Ashman Branch of Madison Public Library (733 N. High Point Rd.)

Reppen draws upon imagery she observes through everyday occurrences to produce a range of work that varies from simple and straight-forward, to wildly complex and deeply emotional.

"My art is a way to convey to others how I see and feel the world around me," says Karen. It gives me a chance to use kinesthetic and visual communication channels to express myself. It comes more naturally than words, and seems more meaningful.

"Both of my parents were artists and they helped me learn to view the world through a creative lens. I try to integrate creativity in all facets of life, and to inspire others to do the same. When I watch waves splash and freeze onto tree branches during a winter storm, or spy a piece of rusty junk along the side of the road, I see art. No matter where I am, or what the occasion, I find something that I want to incorporate into my work. The possibilities are infinite and I've got quite a collection… it keeps me busy."

Artist's reception on Tuesday, December 4th from 5:30 - 8:00 pm. For purchasing information, please contact the artist at cuerva@earthlink.net or (608) 444-8327.
