The current weather forecast indicates a chance of snow after midnight, then freezing rain, possibly mixed with sleet. Tomorrow morning this wintry mix will turn to rain as temperatures rise. Rain will turn back to snow by Sunday morning as temperatures fall.

City of Madison Engineering crews will be out in full force today and throughout the weekend removing snow from inlets at known low points to minimize the chance of flooding. Residents are reminded that there are almost 20,000 inlets in the City’s storm sewer system and that it is not feasible for city crews to uncover them all. As such, the City is requesting that property owners “adopt” any storm inlets adjacent to their property and help keep it clear of snow. Every inlet helps provide some place for water to go.

“Madison has faced a lot of weather-related challenges lately, and our residents have been incredible - - looking out for their neighbors and collaborating with city employees,” said Mayor Soglin. “With more bad weather forecast for this weekend, we’re asking for another push to help keep inlets clear to try to avoid flooding and further damage to property.”
