The Dane County Narcotics and Gang Task Force recently confiscated what is believed to be the largest single seizure of heroin in Dane County history. The Task Force searched a south Madison residence and recovered the following:

1. 1,115 grams (more than a kilo) of Heroin (approx. street value $150,000)
2. 230.6 grams of Cocaine Base
3. 326.7 grams of Cocaine
4. 9 mm semi-auto handgun
5. 5 shot .38 revolver
6. Winchester Super X - .38 hollow point ammo
7. Cocaine press
8. Packaging material
9. Digital scale

Prior to the search Task Force members stopped an individual affiliated with the residence. He was found to be in possession of 1,104 grams (more than a kilo) of cocaine (approx. street value $100,000). His apprehension led to the search that netted the evidence listed above.

The heroin seized was very pure. If ingested in this form it would be fatal, and it's believed removing it from the streets may have potentially saved lives.

Investigators are calling this a significant seizure, and say it will likely make a serious dent in the local supply of the drug (heroin).

This is an ongoing investigation involving the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), and the names of those associated with the seizures are being kept confidential due to the sensitive nature of the probe, and out of concern for the safety of some involved in this case. Prosecutors at the U.S. Attorney's Office here in Madison are reviewing it at this time.
