Drop-offs will return in 2023

The final day the food scraps recycling drop-off program at the South Madison Farmer’s Market and the Eastside Farmers’ Market is Tuesday, October 25, 2022.

The market drop-off program will return in the spring of 2023.

The start time of the 2023 market drop-off and the locations will be announced at a later time.

The market drop-offs have been a resounding success. To date, the markets have collected 10,246 pounds of food scraps. That’s over 5 tons! We have one more market left, and the total weight of material kept out of the landfill could be over 11,000 pounds if we have enough folks bring out their scraps one last time.

The Streets Division would like to thank all of those who participated over the year so far. We’d like to thank both the interns and staff from Sustain Dane and the students of Dr. Alfonso Morales of UW-Madison who also helped staff and manage the drop-off sites. And, of course, we’d like to thank the Neighborhood Food Solutions farm that has been accepting and composting the material collected.

Hours and Location for the Final Farmers’ Market Food Scraps Recycling
The Eastside Farmers’ Market is located at 202 S. Ingersoll Street in McPike Park. The final drop-off will be available from 4:00pm to 7:00pm on October 25, 2022.
