Five Dane County libraries offer film screenings and discussions

Get ready for the Wisconsin Film Festival with free “Sneak Peek” previews of the 18th annual Wisconsin Film Festival (April 14-21, 2016)!  These events will offer residents across Dane County a chance to watch trailers for this year's films, learn about the ins and outs of the Wisconsin Film Festival from festival staff, and enjoy guided discussions about the largest campus-based film festival in the United States.

The fun continues with the 4rd annual Pinney Mini Film Fest on Friday, April 1, 6-8 pm at the Pinney Library, 204 Cottage Grove Road, Madison. Ben Reiser, Wisconsin Film Festival Coordinator will emcee an evening of locally made films and Q&A sessions with film directors including LITTLE AMERICA by Kurt Raether (winner of a 2015 Wisconsin’s Own Golden Badger Award), GEOFFREY BROUGHE HANDLES CONFRONTATION POORLY with director Jon Phillips, PRAIRIE BURNS with director Elizabeth Wadium, and TALE OF THE SPOTTED COW by director Bill Roach.  Willy Street Co-op is generously donating refreshments.
 
These events are a collaboration between Dane County libraries and the Wisconsin Film Festival, and are funded in part by funded in part by Beyond the Page, the National Endowment for the Humanities, and the Madison Community Foundation.

About Wisconsin Film Festival
The Wisconsin Film Festival is presented by the UW-Madison Arts Institute in association with the Department of Communication Arts. Founded in 1999, the Festival presents an average of 150 film screenings over 8 days every spring, making it the largest university-produced film festival in the nation. The Festival is known for its diverse film offerings: American independent, international cinema, documentaries, experimental and avant-garde, resorted classics, the Wisconsin’s Own Competition (selections featuring Wisconsin filmmakers, themes, or settings) and Children’s Cinema: Big Screens, Little Folks.
