Community Environmental Forum on November 14, 6:30 – 8:00 p.m., Madison Municipal Building, Room 260

Climate change is happening in Madison. From intense storm events and flooding to shorter periods of ice cover on the lakes, community members are invited to learn about the impact of climate change and what is being done to mitigate causes.  Participants will discuss renewable energy initiatives, vulnerability assessments and other way ways the city, county and University of Wisconsin-Madison are preparing Madison and its residents to be resilient and adapt to climate change.

Moderated by the Nelson Institute for Environmental Studies at the UW, participants will hear from a panel that includes climate experts and community leaders:

  • Dan Vimont, Director, Center for Climatic Research (speaker and moderator)
  • Jon Meiman, Chief Medical Officer/State Environmental and Occupational Disease Epidemiologist (DHS)
  • Keith Reopelle, Director for Dane County’s Office of Energy and Climate Change
  • Jeanne Hoffman, Facilities and Sustainability Manager, City of Madison
The forum will be held on Wednesday, November 14, from 6:30 – 8:00 p.m. in Room 260 of the Madison Municipal Building, 215 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
