The City of Madison today issued a Call for Community Partners to form Resident Panels—groups of 10-15 residents from often underrepresented segments of Madison’s population.  The Resident Panels will be a cornerstone of Imagine Madison, an innovative public listening campaign that will guide the City’s Comprehensive Plan Update.  The Comprehensive Plan provides a framework for City decision-making and investment.

The City is looking to partner with community-based organizations that are connected to communities of color and other residents who are often underrepresented in discussions about the city’s future.  Selected Community Partners will convene Resident Panels to discuss and provide feedback on major community issues such as housing, transportation and economic development.

The Resident Panels will meet several times during 2017 to add their voices to the community conversation.  The City will provide funding to cover costs such as meeting space rental, food, child care and transportation. Funding for each Resident Panel is slated to be between $5,000 - $10,000.

It’s easy for organizations to be considered for this unique opportunity: submit the short Letter of Interest form by November 23. For more information regarding the Call for Community Partners, contact Kirstie Laatsch, Planner, City of Madison Planning Division at (608) 243-0470 or imaginemadison@cityofmadison.com.  The Call for Community Partners summary and Letter of Interest Form is available at: www.imaginemadisonwi.com/documents.
