Routes 44, 48 & 52 - Effective Tuesday, September 4

On Sunday, September 2, Metro Transit and the City of Fitchburg will roll out new service in Fitchburg.

• Route 44 peak service now starts on Nobel Drive on the Fitchburg Technology Campus, and operates via Mickelson and Hatchery Hill to the South Transfer Point, where it continues its current service via Gilson to the UW Campus and UW Hospital. Trips will operate every thirty minutes towards the UW Campus in the morning rush hour, and towards Fitchburg in the afternoon rush hour.

• Route 48 peak service now starts at the UW Hospital, and operates via University with limited stops on South Park Street to the South Transfer Point, where it continues its service south along Fish Hatchery Road via the Fitchburg Center and Fitchburg Technology Campus to Nobel Drive. Trips will operate every thirty minutes towards the Fitchburg in the morning rush hour, and towards the UW Hospital in the afternoon rush hour.

• NEW Route 52 peak and off-peak service connects the West Transfer Point with the new SuperTarget on Fitchrona Road via Jamestown with no stops along Whitney Way in the City of Madison. Trips operate in both directions every 30 minutes during peak periods and hourly during mid-day and evenings.

Changes will also be made to Route 19 with peak service starting and ending in Chalet Gardens. Passengers should now consult Route 52 for service to the Williamsburg area.

In addition to new Fitchburg service, Metro will implement changes to several routes as well as new service to Middleton.
