Four Storefront Window Installations

This October (Opening Night Friday, October 2) visitors to Hilldale will experience Blink. The Madison Arts Commission, in collaboration with Hilldale, is pleased to announce that artists Yeonhee Cheong, Mallory Shotwell, Greg Williard, and Richard Jones will create a series of temporary art installations and pop-up galleries in the Hilldale storefronts adjacent the Sundance Cinemas for the month of October.

Texturia Wisconsin --Yeonhee Cheong will create drawings that express the rich texture of Wisconsin prairie with chalk on blackboard. Yeonhee will be present on Gallery Night from 5-9pm, creating drawings on site.
 
Joy --Mallory Shotwell hosts an interactive community-created pop-up gallery, that allows viewers to touch, listen, and engage. Mallory Shotwell will be present on Gallery Night and throughout the month of October hosting workshops and gatherings on site. The Hilldale Arcade of Curiosity Engines -- Gregg Williard will exhibit 17 drawings combining complex technical diagrams of impossible machines with the overheated prose of a telemarketer on speed. 
 
Requiem -- Richard Jones’s Requiem consists of hand blown glass and drawings. Requiem is a two part piece exploring the possibility and limits of the diversity of form. The first component is a collection of blown glass vessel forms generated from a self imposed challenge to create a many unique shapes as possible. The second component is the installation of these vessels coupled with "shadow" drawings of local flora placed temporarily in these vessels.
