Regular weekly collections resume the week of August 19, 2019

On Friday, August 16, 2019, Streets Division crews will begin collections in the Moving Days area at 4:00am. Regularly scheduled weekly collections for the Moving Days area will return the week of August 19.

Streets Division operations assessed conditions and determined another early day start is necessary to help with collecting material generated from the yearly move out. The early start should allow Streets crews time to collect as much material as possible before traffic increases due to the morning rush hour. Crews will continue circling through the move out area throughout the day on August 16, 2019 as well. Crews will be emptying collection carts and picking up large items, like furniture.

All residents within the Moving Days area that are utilizing Streets Division collections during the move out time are encouraged to continue following the previously shared information on how to have a fast and safe move. Using the collection carts correctly, stacking large items appropriately, and following the electronics recycling rules will make for a faster and safer process for everyone.

Regular weekly collection of trash and alternating every-other-week collection of large items and recycling will return for the Moving Days area the week of August 19. Residents can obtain their collection schedule calendar to learn when to place the carts and large items to the curb for pickup at the Streets Division website www.cityofmadison.com/collectionschedule.

Residents in the Moving Days area that still have an excess of material once the move out collections end can hold it until their scheduled collection days, or utilize the Streets Division drop-off sites for their material. Proof of City of Madison residency is required to use the drop-off sites. Residency can be proven with a driver’s license, utility bill, lease document, or other official paperwork showing the person lives within the city.

Additional information about the drop-off sites and other Streets Division services can be found in the Recyclopedia or on the Streets Division’s website, www.cityofmadison.com/streets.
