Fleet keeps City vehicles ready to serve our community every day. Our essential department comprised of technicians, administrative personnel, and managerial staff works day in and day out to provide the best service possible for the City of Madison.  This mission is always important, but even more so in these difficult times of emergency and uncertainty. To recognize the work ethic and high caliber of specific staff, the Fleet Employee of the Year award was created in 2019 to celebrate an individual member of our team exhibiting exemplary attributes. After careful consideration of nominees from every level of the org chart, we are proud to announce that the 2020 Employee of the Year is Fleet Technician Blake Scoville.

Every Fleet employee is measured on the three corners of a triangle: EFFORT, SKILLS, and ATTITUDE.  Nobody shines more on all three here than Blake.

Blake is from McFarland, Wisconsin and a graduate of Madison College where he was awarded an Associate’s Degree in Automotive Technology. He came to Fleet after working at Dupy’s Service Center in Oregon, Wisconsin and has been a member of our team since July 2017. Working primarily on heavy duty vehicles, Blake has shown great aptitude on complex repairs. He performs his assigned duties with a positive demeanor, and is noted by his colleagues and customers as a pleasure to work with, a great mechanic, and always willing to go above and beyond. Blake brings a wide breadth of knowledge and experience to our shop, and when given challenging tasks has risen to the occasion. He also routinely volunteered to work longer hours, modify shifts and locations, and take on extra shifts in addition to his normal schedule without complaint to help Fleet maintain reliable operations.  All the while Blake works collaboratively with other technicians to complete jobs.

Blake is also one of our youngest technicians and we hope he stays for decades to come.  Outside of his work, Blake is an avid outdoorsman who enjoys hunting and fishing. And despite COVID-19, the circle of life goes on.  He and his wife Aryn recently welcomed a son, Cain Robert Scoville into the world on April 10th. And while Blake currently enjoys his well-earned paternal leave to be with his family, we extend our sincere thanks and congratulations for a job well done and look forward to having him back on the shop floor as we continue to serve the City of Madison.

And fulfilling our goal of being recognized as the #1 fleet in all of North America.  If we all follow Blake’s example, nothing can stop us from achieving this goal.
