Where are you stationed?
I'm stationed at Station 4 (Monroe Street) on the A shift.

Why did you want to pursue this career?
This career field interested me because of the different challenges we experience together every day, being able to help out my community, and the comradery throughout the stations.

Why did you want to work in Madison, for the Madison Fire Department?
My goal was always to work for the City of Madison. Since I moved here roughly ten years ago, it's always felt like home. The more I learned about the fire department and the city of Madison, the more I knew this is where I wanted to be.

What has been the most rewarding part of your experience so far?
The most rewarding part about working here so far has been the respect and appreciation we receive from the City and our community for what we do.

As you look back on the Academy, what was the most challenging element?
The most challenging aspects of the academy were the mental and physical grind, day in and day out. All worth it in the end!

What advice would you give to someone hoping to join the MFD?
Never give up. Keep applying. Continue to educate and improve yourself until your opportunity comes so when you do get your chance, you're ready to succeed and be an asset to the department. It took me four hiring processes to get here and it was well worth it!!
