Siding and roofing panels have been delayed from the manufacturer. Anticipate they will arrive in mid-October. New asphalt was installed on 9/25 in preparation for first salt deliveries around October 15th.

Project Overview

Demolition of two existing old storage buildings used for road salt and sand. Construction of a single new storage building.

January 09, 2023 update: The contractor is finalizing the design of the new storage building in preparation for submitting for plan review and manufacturing of materials.

April 03, 2023 update: The General Contractor started mobilization the week of March 27 and is in the process of removing existing site electrical power in anticipation of building demolition next week (April 10). Demolition of the 2 existing salt barns is anticipated to be complete by April 28. Excavation for the new building footings will begin after demolition is complete. We anticipate footings, foundation, and vertical timbers being installed during May.

April 19, 2023 update: The demolition sub-contractor mobilized to the site on April 11 and began removing the roofing systems from both salt barns followed by the above grade walls systems. Currently they are removing the asphalt in the construction area in preparation for excavation of old foundations (as needed) and the installation of new foundations. Demolition should be complete by April 28. Excavation and new foundations installed by end of May and the first pieces of the new structure should be arriving around June 5.

May 31, 2023 update: The concrete footings and foundation walls have been poured. A total of 15 trucks of concrete were used to pour the footings on May 18, and 25 trucks were used to pour the foundation walls on May 30. That’s a total of 382 cubic yards of concrete. The first package of wooden columns, beams, and interior planking will be delivered on June 8th. Trusses and additional planking will arrive approximately June 29.July 3, 2023 update: Excavation of the site was completed in early May and the new concrete footings and foundations were completed in the end of May. The structural timber package arrived the week of June 8th and the erection crew has been installing timber posts, beams, planking and sheathing for the last 3 weeks. The trusses have arrived and should begin to be installed in the next week to 10 days. The rest of July will be finishing the heavy timber framing and installing roof trusses and sheathing. Work in August should include metal roofing and siding, final excavation for pavements and installation of asphalt and concrete pavements.

August 11, 2023 update: The heavy timber portion of the salt barn framing was completed near the middle of July. Roof trusses and roof sheathing are complete as is the majority of the interior sheathing and exterior support framing for the metal siding. Currently the framing contractor has pulled off site to start another salt barn while they await the next shipment of materials for ours. During the next few weeks the electrician will be installing lights, conduit/wiring, outlets, and power for the overhead doors. The building contractor will be installing roofing paper, metal roofing, snow/ice shields, metal siding, and clear Lexan light panels.
