The building use is City of Madison offices and meeting rooms.  The construction scope includes:

  • Complete replacement of the HVAC/electrical/plumbing systems; added sprinkler system. 
  • Roof replacement, preservation of exterior historic masonry and windows, and installation of new windows. 
  • Interior architectural remodeling, and interior architectural preservation.
  • Installation of a new addition at the rear of MMB for staff and building support space.  
  • Restoration of landscape to the original grass border (i.e. removal of trees and residential landscaping borders) and preservation of existing historic site elements.

City of Madison Agencies in MMB are Preparing to Move in November!

In preparation for the renovation of the historic Madison Municipal Building, located at 215 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd., some City of Madison Agencies and staff will be relocating to their new temporary homes beginning the first week of November.

Building Inspection and Zoning customer counters will be closing on Friday, November 4th at 11:30 a.m. and will reopen on Monday, November 7th at their new location at 126 South Hamilton St.

The Planning Division and the Office of the Director will be closed all day on Friday, November 4th and will also reopen on Monday, November 7th at their new location at 126 South Hamilton St.

The offices of Traffic Engineering and the Parking Utility will close at noon on Thursday, November 10th and reopen on Monday, November 14th at their new location at 30 W. Mifflin St., 9th Floor, Suite 900.

The CDA-Housing Division will close on Friday, November 18th and reopen on Monday, November 21st at their new location at 30 W. Mifflin St., 5th Floor, Suite 501.

The offices of Economic Development Division will close on Friday, November 18th and reopen on Monday, November 21st at their new location at 30 W. Mifflin St., 5th Floor, Suite 502.

The office of Community Development Division will close on Friday, November 18th and reopen on Monday, November 21st at their new location at 30 W. Mifflin St., 8th Floor, Suite 800.
