Following a comprehensive process, the PFC has selected Chris P. Carbon to be our next Fire Chief. As a standard practice, the PFC will now be issuing a Conditional Offer of Appointment.

Chris Carbon is a lifelong “Madisonian,” having attended Madison West High School, as well as graduating from the UW-Madison with a Bachelor of Science degree. He has been involved in the fire and EMS services beginning in 1992, and has been with the City of Madison Fire Department since 1999 serving in the roles of Firefighter, Paramedic, Lieutenant, and Training Officer. Chris is presently the Division Chief overseeing Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Training and Logistics. He has been heavily involved in community paramedicine.

The PFC wishes to thank the community for input in the process. This process was made possible by assistance from the City’s Human Resources Department, Clerk’s Office, Technology Team, and Police Department.
