DCR CONDEMNS HATE CRIMES

The Madison Department of Civil Rights has been alarmed and saddened to learn of recent hate crimes occurring in our community. The drawing of swastikas and hate speech on area synagogues, hate taunts occurring at Monona Grove High School and burning of a Hmong family's truck in Windsor are deplorable and should not be allowed to occur in our community without a vigorous outcry by concerned individuals.
The DCR adds its voice to that of Steve Morrison, Director of the Madison Jewish Community Council, and calls upon all Madisonians to speak out against hate speech and hate crimes. These incidents are frightening and traumatic. Individuals with any information that may lead to the identification of individuals responsible for these acts are encouraged to contact the Crimestoppers program at (608) 266-6014
Help end hate speech and hate crimes in our community.
