The SynchroniCITY Networking Party is designed to enhance creative connections and provide music industry insight for bands.  

The event begins with a panel discussion about “The Intersection of Music, Innovation, and Technology.” The panel, moderated by Guy Hankel (Yahara Music Library), will feature Preston Austin (Murfie), Beth Kille (Girls & Ladies Rock Camp, Madison Chick Singer Night, Exec Prod MAMA Awards Show, producer/audio engineer), Ankur Malhotra (Amarrass Records, musicologist), and Mike Bailey(Program Chair Entertainment and Media Business Program MMI). see bios below
 
Following the panel discussion there will be the opportunity for musicians, bookers, managers, agents, promoters, photographers, writers, recording engineers, radio, music education, graphic design, production and more to exchange business cards, dreams and ideas while eating delicious snacks provided by Underground Catering.  Who knows, maybe you'll find a gig, a client, a connection or a collaborator.  Please feel free to invite your contacts to this event, too.

Moderator Guy Hankel of Madison Public Library – Yahara Music Library
Yahara Music Library is an online music collection that celebrates Madison’s dynamic music scene by sharing local music with the greater Madison community. The diverse collection includes established musicians and up and coming artists who play everything from rock, hip hop, classical, and more. Yahara Music Library is a free collection accessible to anyone who holds a library card issued by any public library in the South Central Library System (WI).  Library card holders can access music in Yahara Music Library using any web browser or by downloading albums in multiple formats to a variety of devices.    Discover, collect, and enjoy local music at yaharamusic.org

 
Preston Austin founded Murfie with Matt Younkle in 2011. Murfie has the distinction of being one of 13 companies chosen from hundreds of applicants for TechStars, a program considered to be the top start-up accelerator in the world. Murfie has been featured on National Public Radio’s “All Tech Considered,” in The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times Green Blog, PCWorld, as well as received mentions in Fast Company, Springwise and Daily Disruption. Austin brings to the table over two decades of experience in emerging technology.  
 
Mike Bailey is the Program Chair for the Entertainment and Media Business Program at Madison Media Institute. Prior to teaching at MMI Mike spent 12 years as an A&R and Marketing representative for EMI Music and 3 years developing his own independent record label.
 
Beth Kille is an award winning performing songwriter who has been on the Madison music scene since 2000. Staunchly committed to the advancement of young musicians and songwriters of all ages, Kille is the co-founder of Girls and Ladies Rock Camp Madison, the host Madison’s Chick Singer Night and Executive Producer of the Madison Area Music Association Awards show. Kille also works as a producer/audio engineer with a focus on recording albums for first-time recording artists.
 
Ankur Malhotra is co-founder of Amarrass Records, a multi-faceted independent record label based in India and the US. An avid musicologist, he explores, engages, and connects musical traditions from around the world. Ankur's work has been featured in The New York Times, NPR, BBC Radio, Songlines. He also runs Madison Music Review that co-produces some of Madison's most eclectic street music festivals - Musique Electronique and Willy Street Beats, and concerts/tours presenting music from around the globe. He has served on the the Board of Directors of WORT 89.9 FM and the MAMA's, and was a Jury Member at WOMEX 2013. Previously, he was co-founder of an education software company and a consultant in the media and information technology space. Ankur is a graduate of UW-Madison's School of Business with an MBA in Entrepreneurship, and completed his undergraduate degree in Mechanical Engineering in Bangalore, India.
