The City of Madison is exploring modifying the Zoning Ordinance regarding allowable building setbacks along the Langdon Street frontage in order to maintain the unique character of the street. Based on Madison’s Downtown Plan (2012) and the Langdon Neighborhood Character Study (2018), City staff has recently examined existing building setbacks for patterns which could be continued through mapping of setbacks in the Zoning Ordinance.

Any potential change in allowable setbacks would only apply to future construction, including redevelopment and additions. Setback changes would not impact existing buildings.

Please join City of Madison Planning Division staff for a public open house to learn more about this project.
