With his second film, director Paul Thomas Anderson emerged as a bold and unique voice in American cinema. Set in San Fernando Valley in the late-70s, a young dishwasher becomes Dirk Diggler, a popular star of pornographic films. Boogie Nights chronicles his rise in the Golden Age of Porn through to his fall during the excesses of the 1980s, as a toxic combination of ambition, drugs, and egotism damages the lives of Dirk and his circle of friends. The brilliant ensemble cast includes: Mark Wahlberg, Burt Reynolds, Julianne Moore, John C. Reilly, Don Cheadle, Heather Graham, Luiz Guzman, Phillip Seymour Hoffman, William H. Macy, and Philip Baker Hall.
