The Book Club Café is an annual Friends tradition - an event where book club members and other book lovers gather to celebrate reading and Madison's public libraries. This year's Book Club Café will take place at the Central Library in downtown Madison on Tuesday, May 3 at 7 pm.

Attendees enjoy catered coffee, tea and desserts from Chocolaterian Cafe; a book gift basket raffle; and a complimentary Book Club Favorites booklet. Purchase tickets online or print off PDF registration form and mail.

Erin Celello is the author of the novels, Miracle Beach and Learning to Stay. She was born and raised in Michigan’s gorgeous Upper Peninsula and earned B.A. in English from St. Norbert College. Not knowing what else one does with an English degree, Erin set out for law school but never quite got there. Instead, she headed back north to Marquette, Michigan, where she received an MFA in fiction writing from Northern Michigan University and a PhD in snow shoveling. Eventually, Erin landed in Madison, Wisconsin, where she lives today with her husband, two young sons, and two unruly Vizslas. She is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Languages and Literatures at University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and member of the Tall Poppies Writer's Collective.

Forward Theater of Madison has commissioned playwright James DeVita to adapt Learning to Stay for the stage. A first reading of the play was part of Forward Theater’s Wisconsin Wrights New Play Development Project in the fall of 2015.

This event is hosted by the Friends of the Madison Public Library. Event proceeds benefit all Madison Public Libraries.
