Lake Birds with Dane Gallagher ~ Go birding at Picnic Point and the UW Lakeshore Nature Preserve with enthused birder Dane Gallagher!  This is a favorite spot for seeing Barred and Great Horned Owls in the woodlands, Eagles perched on the shoreline, and a variety of migratory waterfowl on University Bay and Lake Mendota. Free, family-friendly, no pets, no registration required.  Wear comfortable hiking shoes and clothing appropriate for the weather. Some scopes and binoculars will be provided, bring binoculars or a camera if you have one!  Fall and winter outings may include a campfire and hot chocolate.

Join a naturalist for a family-friendly nature walk starting at Picnic Point to discover the UW Lakeshore Nature Preserve including historic woodlands, native mounds, restored Biocore Prairie and beautiful Lake Mendota shoreline. Walks at UW Lakeshore Nature Preserve the 4th Sunday every month are co-sponsored by Madison Bird City FUN partners Friends of the Lakeshore Nature Preserve and Madison Audubon Society.
