Ethnobotany Bike Ride with Jeff Steele ~ Ethnobotany is the study of a region's plants and their practical uses through the traditional knowledge of local culture and people. Explore Starkweather Creek on a Bike!  Join Naturalist Jeff Steele to learn about this beautiful urban waterway that flows through the heart of Madison's east side and the natural areas that surround it.  Along the way Jeff will help you learn about Ethnobotany, the traditional uses native trees and plants.  Bring your own bike if you have one.  Some bikes may be available to check out at the Madison BCycle Station. Bring binoculars or a camera if you have one!  

Outings in the Starkweather Creek area begin 10:00am at the Goodman Community Center, unless noted otherwise and are held the 3rd Saturday of every month, year-round. Outings include nature walks, canoe/kayak adventures, bicycling tours and more, and are sponsored by the Madison Friends of Urban Nature, Madison Parks, Goodman Community Center, Madison Audubon Society, and Friends of Starkweather Creek. No registration required. No pets are allowed.
